“KTMB introduces a 30% promotional fare for its new ETS route to JB Sentral from Dec 12, valid for travel until Jan 11, 2026.”
Kuala Lumpur, 09th December 2025, 11.40am – Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) has announced a special 30% promotional discount in conjunction with the launch of its Electric Train Service (ETS) connecting KL Sentral and JB Sentral, starting Dec 12.
In a statement released on Monday, KTMB said the promotion applies to the KL Sentral–JB Sentral–KL Sentral route for travel between Dec 12 and Jan 11, 2026.
KTMB chief technical officer Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin said passengers can enjoy the discount by using the JBBEST promo code when purchasing tickets. A total of 5,000 promo codes are available, subject to the promo’s terms and conditions.
He noted that improved public transport connectivity not only supports daily commuting but also helps boost Johor’s tourism sector and local economy, particularly by attracting more visitors, including those from Singapore.
“The timing is ideal with the school holidays and year-end travel period approaching. Many Malaysians head to Johor during this period, while Johor residents can also enjoy easier access to destinations outside the state via ETS,” he said.
He added that the new service is expected to enhance domestic travel while stimulating tourism and business activities in both directions.
Tickets are available for purchase via the KITS Style mobile application, KTMB’s official website, or at KTMB kiosk machines nationwide.
KTMB also confirmed that the launch marks the completion of the Gemas–Johor Bahru Electric Double Tracking Project, which involved the construction of a 192km rail line and 11 stations. However, ETS operations will be rolled out progressively, including services to the northern sector, in line with the overall commissioning schedule.
