“Jaya Grocer invests RM100 million in Malaysia’s first automated grocery warehouse in Selangor, boosting supply chain efficiency, creating tech-driven jobs, and supporting government upskilling goals.”
Kuala Lumpur, 18th September 2025, 01.19pm – Jaya Grocer has invested over RM100 million in a state-of-the-art automated warehouse in Selangor, marking a milestone in Malaysia’s grocery retail sector as the first of its kind to embrace large-scale supply chain automation.
In a statement on Wednesday, the home-grown retailer said the facility will act as a central distribution hub, using smart technology and data-driven tools to enhance efficiency, ensure faster store replenishment, and deliver fresher products to customers.
The new warehouse also aims to generate higher-skilled, technology-driven job opportunities for Malaysians, aligning with national goals of digital transformation and workforce upskilling.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari welcomed the investment, noting that it reflects the state’s dynamic economic environment and commitment to innovation.
“This facility strengthens the grocery supply chain, fosters job creation, and shows how technology-driven investments can directly benefit communities,” he said.
Jaya Grocer CEO Daniel Teng emphasized that the initiative goes beyond scaling operations.
“It’s about building stronger ties with local suppliers, creating quality jobs, and ensuring Malaysians have access to fresh, quality products every day. Innovation is the future of retail, and this facility positions us to better serve customers while investing in communities,” Teng said.
The company explained that the move was prompted by its existing warehouse reaching full capacity. The new facility will help meet rising customer demand, streamline workflows, and introduce future-ready warehouse technologies.
Jaya Grocer added that the project not only supports government objectives on digital skills development but also highlights its long-term strategy to place technology at the core of growth, efficiency, and community development.
