“KPKT directs PLANMalaysia to review UMNO’s Urban Renewal Convention proposals to enhance the Urban Renewal Bill for better urban redevelopment.”
Kuala Lumpur, 06th Octorber 2025, 01.49pm – The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has directed the Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia) to carry out a detailed review of resolutions proposed during the recent Urban Renewal Convention (URA), said Minister Nga Kor Ming.
Nga explained that the study will include evaluating recommendations for potential improvements to the Urban Renewal Bill (RUU PSB), and amendments may be made if the suggestions are practical and beneficial to all stakeholders.
“As a people-centric government, KPKT embraces the principles of an open heart, open mind, and open door,” Nga said. “We welcome constructive feedback that can help refine the bill, especially to improve living conditions for residents of old and dilapidated flats.”
He was speaking to reporters after attending the Sumbangan Kasih Madani Sempena Deepavali programme in Ipoh on Saturday, where 625 secondary school students from the Buntong state constituency received RM400 each, totaling RM250,000 in contributions.
Nga added that the second reading of the Urban Renewal Bill in the Dewan Rakyat will take place after the tabling of Budget 2026.
The URA Convention, organised by Umno, gathered various stakeholders to discuss key issues surrounding urban redevelopment, covering legal, socio-economic, and community welfare aspects.
According to Nga, the resolutions showcased Umno’s constructive role in promoting collaboration to address urban renewal challenges and improve the quality of life for city residents.
