“KTMB introduces four additional ETS services with 22,680 extra seats from Dec 19 to Jan 11 to meet festive and school holiday travel demand.”
Kuala Lumpur, 21th November 2025, 04.04pm – Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) has announced four additional Electric Train Service (ETS) trips, offering 22,680 extra seats for the upcoming Christmas holiday period and the third term school break.
In a statement on Thursday, KTMB said the supplementary train services will run from 19 December to 11 January 2026, covering the KL Sentral–Padang Besar–KL Sentral and KL Sentral–Butterworth–KL Sentral routes. Ticket sales open at 10am on Friday.
Two of the added ETS services will operate daily on the Padang Besar–KL Sentral line, while the remaining two will run on weekends (Friday to Sunday) between Butterworth and KL Sentral.
KTMB said the move aims to accommodate the surge in demand during the festive and school holiday season, especially when regular ETS seats sell out.
“These additional trains reinforce KTMB’s commitment to providing reliable, comfortable and safe services, ensuring rail travel remains the preferred option for Malaysians,” the operator said.
Passengers are encouraged to book early to secure lower flexible fares and avoid last-minute congestion. KTMB also reminded travellers to arrive 30 minutes before departure, as station gates close five minutes before train time.
Updated schedules can be found on KTMB’s website, its official social media channels, or by calling the KTMB Call Centre at 03-9779 1200.
