“Malaysia’s property sector recorded RM240 billion in transactions in 2025, marking a decade high as the industry strengthens its role as a key economic driver.”

Kuala Lumpur, 04nd March 2026, 03.12pm – Malaysia’s property market recorded transaction values totalling RM240 billion in 2025, marking the highest level in more than a decade and signalling strong recovery momentum for the sector, according to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

He said the performance demonstrates that the real estate industry has moved beyond post-pandemic recovery and is now serving as a major contributor to national economic growth.

Describing property development as a key economic pillar, Nga noted that the sector supports approximately 200 related industries, including manufacturing, construction, banking and legal services.

“The RM240 billion transaction value is a positive indicator of the sector’s strength and its broader economic impact,” he told reporters after attending the Ihya Ramadan—Islah Madani: Memurni Jiwa Membangun Ummah programme organised by the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT), which was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Nga added that the ministry, through the National Housing Department, will continue implementing proactive measures to sustain industry growth and support housing market stability.

He expressed optimism that upcoming national housing reforms would further strengthen market performance, provided cooperation from industry stakeholders remains strong.

On external risks, Nga said the ministry is closely monitoring developments related to tensions in the Middle East, particularly potential impacts on transportation and construction costs that could affect the housing sector.

Separately, he revealed that a proposal has been submitted to establish a single national housing agency, aimed at streamlining administrative processes and reducing bureaucratic overlap.

The proposed initiative would introduce a unified housing platform to accelerate approvals and improve coordination across agencies involved in housing development.
