“REHDA Selangor backs SPEED Selangor, a new state initiative to fast-track development approvals and boost efficiency in the property sector.”
Kuala Lumpur, 15th July 2025, 10.40am – The Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA) Selangor has voiced strong support for the Selangor government’s upcoming Streamlining Programme for Expedited Approvals and Decisions (SPEED Selangor), an initiative designed to fast-track property-related application approvals at the local authority level.
Announced by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, SPEED Selangor is expected to be launched in October 2025. The policy aims to improve approval efficiency, transparency, and overall administrative coordination for development and business submissions, particularly within the property sector.
In a media statement, REHDA Selangor chairperson Datuk Zaini Yusoff described the move as both timely and strategic, reflecting the state government’s commitment to supporting the property industry.
“We commend the Selangor government for introducing SPEED Selangor — it’s a clear indication of their dedication to streamlining the development approval process. With this policy, we anticipate faster turnaround times, better communication with local councils, and a more investment-friendly climate,” Zaini said.
He also called for early inclusion of the housing development sector, stressing that prolonged approval delays have significantly impacted housing project timelines.
“Although we await further details on the rollout and industries covered, we urge the government to prioritise residential property projects due to the current backlog affecting housing delivery,” he added.
REHDA Selangor believes SPEED Selangor could be a game-changer in boosting investor confidence and resolving long-standing bottlenecks in the development approval process, which has historically slowed down project execution and impacted supply of new homes.
The initiative is part of Selangor’s broader strategy to position itself as a business and investment-friendly state, while ensuring more efficient public service delivery in critical sectors like housing and infrastructure.
