PETALING JAYA, Sept 29 — Coalfields Retail Park welcomed more than 390,000 visitors during its soft-opening week from Sept 10 to 16, according to developer KLK Land Sdn Bhd.
Following the initial turnout, KLK Land said it remains confident that the retail destination can achieve its target of five million visitors annually.
The development opened with 90% retail occupancy secured and is scheduled to reach full occupancy by the first quarter of 2027.
KLK Land is the property development arm of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd.
More Than 100 Brands Across One Million Sq Ft
Located within Bandar Seri Coalfields in Selangor, the 21-acre retail park has approximately one million sq ft of gross built-up area.
The hybrid indoor-outdoor development accommodates more than 100 brands across retail, dining, entertainment, wellness, family leisure and everyday services.
Additional brands are expected to open in the months leading up to the first quarter of 2027. These include HarborLand, Serai Ikan Bakar, Circadian Wellness Hub, Toys“R”Us, MR D.I.Y., Babyshop and Anytime Fitness.
Coalfields Retail Park is also connected to a seven-acre lake park featuring landscaped walkways and greenery, combining commercial spaces with outdoor recreational areas.
Retail Park Supports Bandar Seri Coalfields
The retail hub forms part of KLK Land’s wider 6,000-acre master plan and primarily serves Bandar Seri Coalfields, a 1,000-acre township with an estimated gross development value of RM5.5 billion.
Existing township amenities include the 50-acre Central Park, a residents’ clubhouse and educational institutions such as Wesley Methodist School and Sekolah Menengah Akademik Kuen Cheng.
KLK Land said Coalfields Retail Park was developed to expand the township beyond residential offerings by providing space for shopping, dining, leisure and community activities.
The company is also planning a new series of commercial shoplots near the retail park. The proposed development is expected to support further commercial and investment activity within the township.
Road and Pedestrian Access Being Improved
Infrastructure improvements are being carried out to accommodate the township’s growing population and increased visitor traffic.
These include the progressive widening of access roads along Federal Route 54 towards Sungai Buloh and improvements to pedestrian connections within the township.
The upgrades are intended to improve access to Coalfields Retail Park and other amenities in Bandar Seri Coalfields.
KLK Land Targets Community-Focused Growth
KLK Land managing director Lee Wen Ling said the response to the soft opening reflected the company’s approach to developing townships around the needs of their surrounding communities.
“Our vision is to build townships that add value, and this milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to growing alongside the community,” she said.
Lee added that the company hopes Coalfields Retail Park will develop into a central community destination while serving the wider Greater North Klang Valley.
KLK Land said the continued development of Bandar Seri Coalfields is intended to bring more retail, leisure and social spaces closer to residents while supporting the township’s longer-term growth.
