“118 Mall will open this August at Merdeka 118 with over 300 retail outlets, Malaysian Artisan District, Makanizm Food Hall and major brands already committed.”
Kuala Lumpur, 6th May 2026, 2.30pm – 118 Mall is scheduled to open its doors this August, marking a major milestone in the development of the Merdeka 118 precinct and introducing a new retail, dining and lifestyle destination beneath the world’s second-tallest building.
Owned and managed by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), the mall has already secured commitments for more than 70% of its retail space, with the first batch of tenants currently fitting out their premises ahead of opening.
Malaysian Artisan District to Showcase Local Culture and Cuisine
A key highlight of the development is the Malaysian Artisan District, a dedicated 80,000 sq ft zone celebrating local entrepreneurship, food, craftsmanship and creative talent.
At the heart of the district is Makanizm Food Hall, a 40,000 sq ft dining destination located on Level 3, bringing together a wide variety of Malaysian food concepts under one roof.
Confirmed food and beverage operators include:
- Kenny Hills Cafe
- ZUS Coffee
- Eight Ounce Coffee
- Oriental Kopi
- Serai
- Dolly Dim Sum
- Cili Kampung
The retail mix will also feature a range of fashion, sports and lifestyle brands, including Skechers, Decathlon, Habib Jewels, Coach, Hackett London, Cole Haan, ASICS and Li-Ning.
Strong Line-Up of Anchor Tenants
Several prominent anchor tenants have been secured for the mall, including:
- Village Grocer
- HappiKiddo
- Babyshop
- SOGO118
SOGO118 will introduce a refreshed retail concept inspired by the iconic department store brand, incorporating a specialty matcha bar alongside a curated selection of beauty, wellness and lifestyle products from Korean, Japanese and Chinese brands.
The Atmosphere to Serve as Event and Community Hub
Located on Level 4, The Atmosphere is a 20,000 sq ft event piazza designed to become the social focal point of the development.
The venue features an 88-metre-wide glass dome skylight and three large-format high-definition LED screens, creating a versatile space capable of hosting exhibitions, fashion events, cultural showcases and public gatherings throughout the year.
Integrated Within the Merdeka 118 Precinct
118 Mall forms an integral part of the larger Merdeka 118 mixed-use development, which includes:
- Premium Grade A office towers
- The View at 118 observation deck
- Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur
- Merdeka Residences residential towers
The precinct is complemented by Merdeka Boulevard at 118, a four-acre linear park designed to enhance connectivity and public spaces within the development.
Accessibility is further supported by the Belfield Tunnel and multiple public transportation links, while the site enjoys close proximity to key heritage landmarks including Petaling Street, Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara.
Positioned as a New Landmark Destination
PNB Merdeka Ventures chief executive officer Datuk Ir. Ts. Izwan Hasli Ibrahim said the precinct is steadily evolving into a major destination for both local and international visitors.
He noted that strong leasing momentum reflects retailer confidence in the project and positions the development to play a role in supporting tourism activities ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.
Meanwhile, 118 Mall head of retail Sue Wang said the tenant mix has been carefully curated to reflect the character and heritage of the surrounding Kuala Lumpur city centre district while creating an engaging and welcoming retail environment.
Upon opening, the mall is expected to house more than 300 retail outlets and is projected to attract approximately 22 million visitors during its first year of operation.
