“Tan Sri Vincent Tan has acquired nearly RM20 million worth of Berjaya Corp and Berjaya Property shares, increasing his direct stake in the group after recent disposals.”
Kuala Lumpur, 16th June 2026, 04.00pm – Tan Sri Vincent Tan has increased his shareholdings in Berjaya Corp Bhd and Berjaya Property Bhd through transactions worth nearly RM20 million, just weeks after reducing his interests in the group.
According to filings with Bursa Malaysia, the businessman acquired 59.97 million shares in Berjaya Corp, representing a 1.02% stake, from Berjaya Assets Bhd for RM14.05 million.
The shares were previously held by Berjaya Bright Sdn Bhd and Berjaya Times Square Sdn Bhd, both wholly owned subsidiaries of Berjaya Assets.
The latest acquisition follows another purchase made on June 8, when Tan acquired 60 million Berjaya Corp shares, equivalent to a 1.01% stake, through a direct business transaction valued at RM14.1 million.
Following the recent purchases, Tan’s direct interest in Berjaya Corp has increased to 6.13%, while his indirect shareholding stands at 10.96%.
Follows Earlier Disposal of Shares
The purchases come after Tan disposed of approximately 461.65 million Berjaya Corp shares across several transactions in late May, involving both direct and deemed interests.
Those disposals were valued at about RM115 million and resulted in the businessman temporarily ceasing to be a substantial shareholder in the company.
Additional Purchase in Berjaya Property
Separate filings also showed that Tan acquired 23.8 million shares, or a 0.48% stake, in Berjaya Property Bhd for RM5.95 million.
The shares were previously owned by Berjaya Bright, another subsidiary under Berjaya Assets.
Combined, the transactions involving Berjaya Corp and Berjaya Property amounted to approximately RM20 million.
Berjaya Assets to Use Proceeds for Property Development
Berjaya Assets said the share disposals were undertaken to monetise part of its investments in Berjaya Corp and Berjaya Property.
According to the company, proceeds from the transactions will be used mainly for working capital requirements and to support ongoing property development activities.
On Monday, Berjaya Corp shares rose 2.04% to close at 25 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.49 billion.
Berjaya Assets closed one sen lower at 28 sen, while Berjaya Property ended unchanged at 25 sen.
