Mah Sing Unit Ordered to Pay RM1.65 Million in Legal Costs After High Court Dismisses Lawsuit

Kuala Lumpur, 29th July 2026, 01.51pm – Mah Sing Group Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary, Elite Park Development Sdn Bhd, has been ordered to pay RM1.65 million in legal costs after the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed its claims against three defendants in a lawsuit that began in 2019.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday, Mah Sing said the High Court, on July 24, dismissed Elite Park Development’s claims against Zulhkiple Abu Bakar, who practises under Perunding ZNA, and two other defendants.

High Court Allows Counterclaim

The court also allowed the first defendant’s counterclaim amounting to RM114,088.23.

The judgment sum will carry interest at 5% per annum from May 23, 2019, until full settlement.

According to Mah Sing, the group’s financial exposure arising from the judgment comprises:

  • RM1.65 million in legal costs awarded to the defendants;
  • RM114,088.23 under the allowed counterclaim; and
  • Interest payable on the counterclaim as ordered by the court.

Mah Sing Expects No Material Business Impact

Mah Sing said it does not expect the High Court’s decision to have any material adverse effect on the group’s business operations or overall financial position.

The company added that Elite Park Development will continue to seek legal advice on the ruling, including evaluating the appropriate legal options available.

Mah Sing said it will make further announcements if there are any material developments regarding the case.

Lawsuit Dates Back to 2019

The legal proceedings were first announced by the company in October 2019, with subsequent updates provided in November 2019 and July 2020.

The latest Bursa Malaysia filing marks the High Court’s decision on the long-running dispute after nearly seven years of legal proceedings.
