KUALA LUMPUR, 16th Apr 2024 – According to a press release issued on Friday, Gamuda Land, the property division of Gamuda Bhd, entered into a memorandum of agreement on April 6 with Kiddypedia, an educational event company, to establish Kiddypedia Discovery Centres at the developer’s townships, specifically Gamuda Gardens in Rawang and twentyfive7 in Telok Panglima Garang.

The Kiddypedia Discovery Centres are designed to provide families with edutainment experiences, blending sports, arts, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) workshops, and team-building activities, as stated in the announcement.

In the statement, Jess Teng, the Chief Operating Officer of Gamuda Land, expressed that the collaboration with Kiddypedia is in line with Gamuda Land’s dedication to offering community-centric activities to foster a tight-knit community. She articulated the aspiration to cultivate a township with a sense of belonging, where residents of diverse backgrounds and ages can unite to work, learn, shop, and play, forming enduring friendships with fellow community members.

Teng emphasized that when planning their townships, they consider various components such as landscaping, infrastructure, home design, and community spaces. Each element is purposefully chosen to foster a cohesive community atmosphere, with all aspects harmonizing to cultivate a sense of belonging among residents.

The statement mentioned that utilizing Gamuda Land’s township amenities like parks, waterways, and lakes as venues for the upcoming Kiddypedia Discovery Centres will facilitate place-based learning programs. Developed in collaboration with Gamuda Parks, these programs will cover an entire academic year and enhance participants’ understanding of the environment, focusing on topics such as urban garden management and biodiversity conservation.

Cavin Tan, the CEO of Kiddypedia, expressed that the ambiance within Gamuda Land’s townships provides an ideal setting for their play-based learning centers. He highlighted that these surroundings allow them to integrate classroom curriculum with the local community and culture, leveraging the natural and cultural resources of the areas to enrich their educational programs. Through immersive learning activities emphasizing discovery, hands-on experience, and play, their goal is to enhance children’s comprehension of their surroundings and encourage active engagement in the local environment and community.

As outlined in the statement, the curriculum for the “100 Careers Challenge” program will cover a wide range of career options, including positions like Junior Botanist, Junior Urban Planner, Junior Environmental Architect, and Junior Marine Biologist. These roles aim to provide practical, hands-on experiences to reinforce learning and promote collaboration across different disciplines.

Additionally, there are intentions to allow participants to tour Gamuda’s Next-Generation Digital Industrialised Building System facility in Banting, tailored to their selected career trajectory. “This endeavor seeks to offer participants direct exposure to contemporary construction techniques and eco-friendly building practices, which epitomize the direction of the industry,” stated the release.

Furthermore, the initiative will integrate excursions to the Wetlands Arboretum Centre at Gamuda Cove and the nearby Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands to acquaint children with the significance and function of the wetland ecosystem.

Tan expressed that these extracurricular programs not only enhance the comprehensive learning journey but also provide parents with useful insights into their child’s talents and areas needing improvement. Moreover, they offer a chance for parents to engage with both their children and other parents, fostering a robust support system within the community. Tan emphasized that such cooperation plays a crucial role in the all-round development of children and fosters unity within the community.

The collaboration will also launch a kids’ club called GL Rangers, tailored for children aged below 12 years old.
