“GBI is offering a 20% discount on certification fees for new projects under its green rating system, encouraging sustainable building practices in Malaysia.”
Kuala Lumpur, 03rd Sept 2024, 10.28am – To encourage sustainability in real estate, Green Building Index Sdn Bhd is providing a 20% discount on registration fees for new projects aiming for certification under the Green Building Index (GBI) rating system.
This discount is available for projects led by architects and engineers who are members of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM).
Launched in 2009 by PAM and ACEM, the GBI rating system helps developers and building owners design and construct environmentally friendly and sustainable buildings that minimize their impact on the environment.
In a press statement on Monday, GBI chairman and PAM president Adrianta Aziz announced that the initiative is designed to encourage project owners who have engaged PAM and ACEM members for their consultancy services.
“Since our founding in 2009, GBI has been trusted by over 1,200 building owners to certify their buildings as green. These include international and national organizations, federal and state government ministries and agencies, public and private universities, and individual residences,” he stated.
“Out of these 1,200 building projects, GBI has certified 702 buildings as of July 31, 2024, covering a total of 316.4 million square feet of gross floor area rated by GBI,” Adrianta added. “These GBI-certified buildings have contributed to reducing the country’s greenhouse gas emissions by 1.829 million tons of carbon dioxide annually.”
