“I-Bhd launches SkyCity in Shah Alam with a 60-meter tower and 600-meter glass slide, set to open December 2024, boosting tourism and economic growth.”
Kuala Lumpur, 7th Aug 2024, 10.15am – I-Bhd broke ground on Tuesday for SkyCity in I-City, Shah Alam, featuring a 60-metre tower with a 600-metre glass slide set to become a new tourist attraction.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the property developer stated that the addition of SkyWalk in i-City will boost the growth of bleisure — business and leisure — activities in Shah Alam. This follows the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton last year and existing attractions in i-City, continuing to attract both local and international travelers.
“We believe that SkyCity will be the crowning jewel. By providing unique experiences, we are confident that i-City will attract five million visitors worldwide next year, greatly contributing to Visit Selangor Year 2025’s goal of seven million tourists,” said i-City Selangor chairman Datuk Seri Tengku Ahmad Shah Sultan Salahuddin in the press statement.
He added that SkyCity will feature LED decorations and a 600-meter glass slide, and it is set to open to the public on December 11, 2024, in honor of the birthday of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah of Selangor.
Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who officiated the groundbreaking ceremony, stated that the tourism services sector has been identified as a key driver of Selangor’s economy, contributing 26.5% to the state’s gross domestic product.
