Kelana Jaya LRT delays on June 3 due to track switch issue between Pasar Seni and Bangsar. Rapid Rail activates manual operation for safety; repairs underway.

Kuala Lumpur, 09th June 2025, 01.55pm – Commuters on the Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) line faced delays on Monday morning due to a track switch malfunction between the Pasar Seni and Bangsar stations.

In a statement, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, the operator of the Kelana Jaya Line, said the issue was detected around 5.30am, impacting train services heading towards Putra Heights. As a safety precaution, train movements in the affected stretch are being conducted manually, leading to longer travel times.

“Manual operation was implemented to ensure passenger safety, which has led to delays between the two stations,” Rapid Rail said.

An engineering team has been dispatched to the site and is currently conducting repair and rectification work. Rapid Rail said normal operations would resume as soon as the issue is resolved.

To manage passenger flow and ensure safety, auxiliary police officers and station staff have been stationed at the platform and concourse areas of affected stations.

The company is also issuing periodic announcements at stations and urged passengers to refer to Rapid KL’s official social media channels for real-time updates on service disruptions.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate the patience and understanding of all passengers during this time,” the operator added.

The Kelana Jaya Line is one of Kuala Lumpur’s most heavily used urban rail systems, and any disruptions often result in significant commuter congestion during peak hours.
