Johor, 12th July 2024, 14.22pm – At the 25th Joint Meeting of the Malaysia-Singapore Business Council (MSBC) on Thursday, discussions centered on advancing mutual interests and exploring new opportunities through the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
Co-chaired by YCH Group executive chairman Dr. Robert Yap and Tan Sri Dr. Nik Norzrul Thani N Hassan Thani of Zaid Ibrahim & Co, the council expressed support for the JS-SEZ and emphasized its commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations.
Yap stated that the JS-SEZ would enhance collaboration and promote sustainable growth between Malaysia and Singapore. He expressed confidence that it would boost regional competitiveness, create high-quality jobs, and foster innovation. “By leveraging our combined strengths and fostering cross-border synergies, we aim to build a resilient economic landscape that benefits businesses and communities, paving the way for a prosperous and interconnected future,” he said in a statement after the meeting at the SBF Centre.
Nik Norzrul Thani emphasized that the MSBC firmly supports the JS-SEZ as a catalyst for economic development and regional cooperation. “We are committed to the transformative potential of this initiative and to strengthening economic collaboration between Malaysia and Singapore,” he stated.
Key discussion points included strategic plans for promoting sustainable growth, leveraging technological advancements in cross-border transactions to improve business operations, and expanding market access for Malaysian and Singaporean companies. The meeting also tackled shared global challenges and fostered constructive dialogue to deepen partnerships and reinforce the longstanding business relations between the two countries.
