Licensed MM2H agent Second Home Plan says Malaysia’s revamped second home visa offers long-term appeal amid rising competition from ASEAN nations.

Kuala Lumpur, 05th June 2025, 01.40pm – Second Home Plan Sdn Bhd, a newly launched licensed agent under the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, has expressed strong confidence in the revamped visa framework, describing it as a credible and forward-looking approach to attracting long-stay foreign residents.

Amid increasing regional competition from Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, the company believes that Malaysia continues to hold an edge due to its multicultural society, political stability, affordability, and high quality of life.

“It’s More Than Residency—It’s About Quality of Life”

“Our lifestyle appeals strongly to families from China, Taiwan, and beyond. It’s not just about a visa—it’s about access to international education, healthcare, and cultural integration,” said Managing Director June Chang Suh Chie in an interview following the company’s official launch on Wednesday.

Chang noted that Malaysia offers a “softer, more relaxed environment,” paired with ease of doing business and strong English proficiency—key selling points compared to other regional destinations.

A Reset After Policy Missteps

The MM2H programme underwent a significant overhaul in 2022 following backlash over abrupt changes to income and deposit requirements. Chang acknowledged that the previous iteration “turned off” many potential applicants due to inconsistent policies.

“The new structure is more selective but also more transparent. It’s not about excluding people—it’s about protecting national interests and ensuring long-term commitment from quality applicants,” she said.

Chang described the revised requirements—such as higher fixed deposits and proof of income—as a “natural filtration system” that helps attract applicants who are genuinely ready to contribute to Malaysia’s economy and society.

Licensed and Positioned for Growth

Second Home Plan is among the 140 MM2H licence holders officially registered with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC). However, according to Chang, not all licensees are actively operating, giving her firm a competitive advantage through its dedicated platform and support services.

The company positions itself as a comprehensive relocation consultancy, offering services from visa application and housing assistance to schooling, healthcare, and lifestyle integration.

Its target markets include China, Taiwan, Japan, and the Middle East, with rising interest also coming from the UK and US.

“Malaysia’s global reputation as a peaceful, neutral nation with strong healthcare and education continues to attract families looking for long-term stability,” she added.

Royal Endorsement and Shareholding Structure

Second Home Plan also benefits from the involvement of Tunku Dr Kamariah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, sister of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, the current King of Malaysia. She serves as Chairman of the company and holds a 10% equity stake.

Tunku Kamariah also sits as non-executive chairman for several Bursa Malaysia-listed companies including Zen Tech International Bhd, AHB Holdings Bhd, and SMTrack Bhd.

The company’s majority shareholder is June Chang (60%), with the remaining shares held by directors Datuk Kenneth Soh Chee Whye (20%) and Chris Chang Yeong Jie (10%).

2025 Outlook: Up to 300 Applicants Targeted

Second Home Plan has set a goal to process 300 MM2H applicants by end-2025, supported by a growing international network of agents, partner associations, and relocation service providers.

Chang said the firm aims to position Malaysia as the preferred lifestyle destination in ASEAN for high-net-worth individuals and retirees looking for long-term second home options.
