KUALA LUMPUR, 23th Nov – The Exchange TRX, including its retail mall and a groundbreaking 5km underground vehicular tunnel, is set to welcome the public on November 29, 2023. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi conducted a site visit to inspect the Tun Razak Exchange (“TRX”) road infrastructure.

Constructed by Gadang Engineering (M) Bhd and WCT Bhd, the TRX tunnels comprise two levels for vehicles and an additional level exclusively for utility services. The incorporation of Waze Beacon within the tunnels aims to provide uninterrupted navigation into the district.

The road network will seamlessly connect TRX to 12 major roads and highways, including Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Maju Expressway (MEX), SMART Tunnel, and the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE).

During a working visit to inspect the road infrastructure around Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi (center) reviews the plan presented by TRX Chief Executive Officer Datuk Azmar Talib (second from the right).

The TRX underground tunnel, with direct connections to Jalan Tun Razak and SMART highway, establishes a loop system facilitating access to and from major thoroughfares within the development. This design helps alleviate traffic congestion in the surrounding areas.

Vehicles entering TRX via the loop tunnels will have direct access to parking bays under the respective buildings in the district. Supported by the on-site Tun Razak Exchange MRT station, TRX boasts unparalleled connectivity in the city. This MRT interchange, hosting both the Kajang Line and the Putrajaya Line, connects to 64 stops, enabling commuters to reach TRX within 45 minutes from any point on the MRT lines.

Alexander emphasized the strategic planning for TRX, aligning with the government’s commitment to making it an international business and social destination. The recently completed Jalan Tun Razak Traffic Dispersal project, in collaboration with DBKL, is expected to reduce traffic into the city by approximately 30 percent.

TRX City Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Azmar Talib highlighted the significance of the underground tunnel, constituting a crucial part of the RM3 billion investment dedicated to developing essential infrastructure for TRX. As envisioned, TRX combines the elements of an international financial center with a transit-oriented development, creating a world-class urban ecosystem focused on sustainability, public spaces, and exceptional connectivity.
