“UEM Sunrise Bhd’s development application for Subiaco East, Perth, proposes two mixed-use residential buildings with 340 apartments, retail space, and community-focused design near Subiaco Oval.”

KUALA LUMPUR, 28th May 2024 – UEM Sunrise Bhd has filed a development application (DA) for its inaugural residential project in Subiaco East, Perth, Western Australia. The proposal for Lots 1 and 2 at The Oval, Subiaco East, includes two prominent apartment buildings.

The company announced that it is aiming for approval to construct two mixed-use residential buildings on a 4,930 sq m site, located just outside the iconic Subiaco Oval’s boundary, adjacent to Haydn Bunton Drive.

“The proposed development is the initial project within the Subiaco East Masterplan by DevelopmentWA, the central development agency of the Western Australia State Government.

The development will include around 340 apartment units, with a potential launch gross development value of AU$450 million, and up to 12% of the units designated as affordable housing in the Western suburbs. This proposal offers future residents a unique opportunity to experience the distinctive Subiaco lifestyle.”

UEM Sunrise announced that the plan includes two architecturally distinctive residential buildings on Lot 1, with tiered heights of 25 and 35 stories plus a ground floor, creating a striking visual landmark.

This will be complemented by a 10-story building plus a ground floor on Lot 2.

The proposed mixed-use residential precinct design aims to encourage communal interaction through carefully curated spaces. It includes 400 square meters of retail space on the ground floor of Lot 1, which extends into gardens and landscaping that enhance the public amenities at The Oval site.

In the same statement, CEO Sufian Abdullah mentioned the company’s long-standing presence in Australia.

“We’re excited to undertake this landmark project as our first venture into Western Australia. By combining local and global expertise in mixed-use developments, we aim to create a vibrant and connected new community in Subiaco East for the Perth residential market.”
