PKNS has unveiled a RM3 billion SA Sentral and Section 13 development plan in Shah Alam, featuring a convention centre, serviced apartments, and a TOD-based hospital. The seven-year project aims to boost connectivity, green spaces, and socioeconomic growth.

Kuala Lumpur, 29th Nov 2024, 01.43pm – The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has announced an ambitious seven-year development plan for SA Sentral and Section 13, Shah Alam, aiming to create a modern, integrated hub over 145 acres (58.6 hectares). The RM3 billion project will include an international-standard convention centre, a hotel, serviced apartments, a shopping mall, and the Aneka Walk retail hub.

According to a statement by PKNS on Thursday, the project will be developed in phases to ensure the seamless integration of modern infrastructure and public facilities. A key highlight is a focus on enhancing mobility, with pathways connecting the Dato Menteri LRT Station to SA Sentral and improved accessibility to green and recreational spaces.

“The development will transform the area into a vibrant city centre, promoting economic growth and fostering a sense of community,” PKNS said.

Transit-Oriented Development for a Future-Ready Shah Alam

The Section 13 plan incorporates Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) principles, including a hospital operated by a PKNS subsidiary and an assisted living facility for the elderly. Other features include serviced apartments to meet housing demands and Linear Park, a public park linking Menara U and Menara U2 directly to the LRT station.

PKNS Signature Projects Deputy Director Azilah Arasad presented the comprehensive plan to the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), with PKNS Group CEO Datuk Mahmud Abbas and Shah Alam Deputy Mayor Madiyan Baweh in attendance.

Boosting Jobs and Economic Growth

The project is expected to create over 1,500 jobs and stimulate commercial activities, driving significant socioeconomic development in Shah Alam. Enhanced public transport connectivity, including a bridge linking the development to the nearby LRT station, will promote sustainable urban mobility.

“This project represents a major leap forward for Shah Alam, blending modern infrastructure with community-driven initiatives,” the statement added.

With its phased implementation beginning in 2024, the SA Sentral and Section 13 development aims to set a new benchmark for integrated urban hubs in Malaysia.
